More Than a Car Company

Being More Than a Car Company® means showing up for the world around us. At Subaru, we support our communities and give our employees, retailers, customers, and partners the resources and opportunity to make a real difference. Together, our work strengthens local neighborhoods, supports national nonprofit partners, and drives impact that reaches well beyond the road.

Message from Our President & COO and Chairman & CEO

Every year, we embrace the opportunity to tell incredible stories of the many ways that our retailers, team members, and community partners show that we are More Than a Car Company®.

We build vehicles that bring people home safely. We give back to the towns our retailers and customers live in. We take care of the planet and the people on it. Not because we have to, but because that is who we are.

That’s the story behind our 2025 Corporate Impact Report. It goes beyond numbers and milestones to capture the full picture of a company that consistently shows up for something bigger.

From our Subaru Share the Love® Event, which keeps growing every single year because it’s powered by real commitment, to the long-term partnerships we’ve built around environment, health, education, pets, and community, this report shows what it looks like when a company lives up to its values.

At the center of all our efforts is our Subaru Love Promise® which guides us with the core values of Honesty, Empathy, Appreciation, Respect and Trust – or simply: H.E.A.R.T. These pillars lead every decision we make.

Thank you to every Subaru retailer, team member, and community partner for helping us make the world a better place. You are what makes us More Than a Car Company.

2025 Highlights and Achievements

SBR welcomed students and community members to factory tours at its Gunma Plant, offering an inside look at Subaru’s manufacturing process. In 2025, more than 20,000 elementary school students participated in on-site tours, while additional students joined remote programs to learn about vehicle production, technology, and Subaru’s impact in the local community.

Road safety remains a top priority for Subaru and the communities it calls home. In Gunma, employees and athletes joined local partners for national traffic safety campaigns to distribute reflectors at nearby train stations and promote safe driving habits. Subaru also continued installing traffic safety signs along school routes in Ota City, bringing the total to 29 signs placed on utility poles to help protect children commuting to school.

On Earth Day, SBR and Subaru of America held their first global cleanup event to reinforce Subaru’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The day brought together more than 150 employees across six different office locations in Japan and the United States to help support their local communities.

A participating employee commented, “I really felt like I was part of ‘One SUBARU.’ Even though we were on opposite sides of the globe, we were doing the same thing with the same feelings.”

In 2025, SBR expanded the Cherishing Every Life project, a global initiative that mobilizes customers, dealerships, and local communities to protect human life and the natural environment. The program drives real-world impact through disaster preparedness, safety education, and environmental support initiatives that strengthen resilience and happiness.

Sports help connect Subaru with the communities surrounding its facilities. Throughout 2025, members of SBR’s baseball and track and field teams led local elementary school students through running and baseball clinics in Gunma Prefecture, teaching technique while encouraging confidence, teamwork, and a love of sports.

Our Sister Company: Subaru of Indiana Automotive

Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) is the home of North American production and is Subaru’s only manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA assembles the Ascent, Crosstrek, and Forester (including Forester Hybrid) models, producing about half of all Subaru vehicles sold in North America. SIA became the first U.S. auto plant to achieve zero landfill status in 2004. The facility has continued to advance its environmental and operational standards, earning ISO 14001 certification in August 2013, followed by ISO 50001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001.

SIA produced its 6 millionth Subaru vehicle in June and its 8 millionth vehicle overall in November, marking historic milestones in manufacturing excellence.

The SIA Foundation awarded $329,144 in capital grants in 2025, supporting 37 organizations and bringing total lifetime giving to more than $3.4 million.

Charitable sponsorships included local youth programs, animal welfare, food access, and STEM education through partnerships with the Humane Society for Greater Lafayette, Scouting America, Food Finders Food Bank, Meals on Wheels Greater Lafayette (AniMeals program), the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and many more that align with the Subaru Love Promise pillars.
